About Window Tint
Automotive window tint is a thin film applied to vehicle glass to reduce heat, block UV rays, increase privacy, and improve the overall appearance of the vehicle.

Film Types
Ceramic tint uses nano-ceramic particles that block heat and UV rays without interfering with electronic signals. It offers superior heat rejection and clarity compared to standard films.
Carbon tint uses carbon particles for good heat rejection and a matte, non-reflective appearance. It doesn't fade to purple over time like basic dyed films.
Dyed tint is the most affordable option. It provides some UV and glare reduction but offers less heat rejection than ceramic or carbon films and can fade over time.
Ceramic tint provides significantly better heat rejection, doesn't interfere with electronics, and maintains its color and clarity far longer than standard dyed films.
Common shades range from 5% (very dark, limo tint) to 70% (very light). The number refers to Visible Light Transmission — lower percentages mean darker tint.
VLT stands for Visible Light Transmission — the percentage of visible light that passes through the film. Lower VLT means darker tint.

Ceramic and carbon tint films do not interfere with GPS, cell phone, or other electronic signals. Metalized films can cause interference and are generally avoided.

Florida Tint Laws
Yes, with restrictions. Florida regulates how dark window tint can be on each window. Risen Wraps ensures all installations comply with Florida law.
Florida requires front side windows to allow more than 28% light transmission (VLT).
Back side windows and rear windows must allow more than 15% VLT on sedans. SUVs and vans may have more flexibility on rear windows.
Yes. Florida allows medical exemptions for individuals with certain conditions requiring additional UV protection. A certificate must be carried in the vehicle.
Florida permits a non-reflective tint strip on the top of the windshield above the AS-1 line. Full windshield tint is not legal.
You may receive a citation and be required to remove the tint. Risen Wraps only installs tint that complies with Florida statutes.
Florida does not require a sticker but some installers provide documentation. We recommend keeping your receipt as proof of legal installation.
A tint meter can measure the VLT of your windows. Risen Wraps can assess your existing tint during a consultation.
5% limo tint is only legal on rear side windows and rear window for certain vehicle types. It is not legal on front side windows in Florida.
Yes. All of our tint installations comply with Florida window tint regulations. We'll advise you on what's legal for your specific vehicle type.
Installation
A full vehicle tint typically takes 2 to 4 hours depending on the number of windows and film type.
Windows are cleaned, measured, and cut. Film is applied to the interior glass surface using a slip solution, then squeegeed smooth and left to cure.
Tint typically cures within 3 to 5 days in Florida's warm weather. Avoid rolling down windows during this time.
Small water bubbles are normal and disappear as the film cures. Air bubbles that don't resolve after curing indicate an installation issue.
Yes. Tint can be applied to cars, trucks, SUVs, vans, and specialty vehicles.
Yes. We offer tint removal services. Old film must be completely removed and windows cleaned before new tint is applied.
Rear windows with tight curves are typically tinted in a single piece using heat shrinking techniques for a smooth, seamless application.
Automotive window tint is applied to the interior surface of the glass, protecting the film from environmental damage.
Just bring a clean vehicle. We'll handle the prep work, including cleaning the glass before installation.
Yes. Additional tint can be applied over factory privacy glass for increased darkness, as long as it remains within legal limits.
Maintenance & Care
Use a soft microfiber cloth and ammonia-free window cleaner. Avoid abrasive pads or harsh chemicals that can scratch or degrade the film.
Avoid ammonia-based cleaners like traditional Windex. Use ammonia-free formulas specifically designed for tinted windows.
Wait at least 3 to 5 days before rolling windows down to allow the film to properly cure.
Quality window tint from authorized installers typically lasts 10 years or more when properly maintained. Cheap films may fade or bubble within a few years.
Purple discoloration is a sign of low-quality dyed film degrading due to UV exposure. Premium films from SunTek do not turn purple.
Bubbling after the cure period indicates a failing film, often from low-quality product or improper installation. Contact us if this occurs.
Scratched tint generally cannot be repaired and the affected section will need to be replaced.
No special maintenance is required beyond regular cleaning with ammonia-free products and avoiding abrasive tools on the glass.
Wait at least 3 days before washing, and avoid directing water pressure directly at window edges during the cure period.
